| Slightly off topic but considering the number of concert stagings of musicals there, I think it is sort of relevant. I've been to the NY Phil countless of times for music and a few times for concert mountings of Broadway musicals. The microphone enhancements for the actors during spoken lines have been atrocious at some shows (If I didn't know Carousel's text word for word, I wouldn't have understood any of the story -- it was that bad). I have never attended the Philharmonic's film screenings where the orchestra provides the live score. This season, there are two films with great scores that I would like to try this with (2001 Odyssey and The Red Violin) but not if those who have attended tell me the dialogue will be incomprehensible. Can anyone who has gone describe the sound experience? Thank you. |
