That is the idea. It is so that neither actress gets higher placement. With the staggered placement, you can read it (up and down) that Menzel is first-billed or you can read it (left to right) that Chenowith is first.
So they are both top billed.
Famously, Red Hot and Blue put the names of its star (Durante and Merman) in an X for the same reason. |
