| I was lucky enough to be at the Tanglewood rehearsal yesterday morning. It's an amazing mix of Broadway and classical music talent -- Michael Tilson Thomas conducting the "West Side Story" selections, and Andris Nelsons leading the final movement of the Mahler "Resurrection" Symphony were the most exciting moments. Tony Yazbeck's rendition of "Maria" is the most beautiful rendition of that song I've ever heard. Audra also leads the entire ensemble in a moving encore... Tonight I will listen to the Tanglewood concert live online, and tomorrow I will continue my personal celebration at the Paley Center in NY, where they are screening LB's 60th Birthday celebration from Wolf Trap in 1978 (three hours--completely live back when there was no time delay!), and "Bernstein Conducts West Side Story" from 1985. |
