| I think you have mischaracterized her life and career. She was not particularly ambitious. She was one of 2 members of Second City who voted AGAINST going to NYC. Yes, she married Paul Sills (she was 20) but he had yet to become anyone famous. Indeed, she was a co-founder of the company. She loved the process but not the repetition. That’s why improv was so attractive to her. Her obit quotes her as saying she chose movies that would NOT bring her fame, just pay the bills. I don’t think Apple Tree was a great experience for her. She had to carry most of the 2 last pieces on her fragile shoulders. A rare confection she was. Adorable, warm and very funny but vulnerable and not thrilled with great “success”. |
