And don't ever write anything on spec that someone else controls the rights to. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support that such a scenario almost never works out in favor of the spec writers.
In your situation, you have actually been told by the partial rights holder what you would need in order to secure the part of the rights that they control. You essentially need to find a 'first class' - i.e experienced Broadway producer to get involved in support of the project. Plenty of producers will take a pitch meeting, so it's worth looking into --but regardless, you should be prepared for a very expensive, and time-consuming path in front of you.
Because of that, I'd personally suggest you evaluate if this is an idea that is truly financially viable (i.e. who is the audience for it?) versus something that may be more of a personal passion project. That may help you decide if its truly worth pursuing. |
