Thanks for all of the responses...and please keep them coming. I just wanted to clarify a thing or two based on some of the comments. I may be new to theater writing but I am not a new writer. I have written screenplays for two movies that have been produced...one of which will be coming out in the spring with a pretty big name cast...which I also co-produced. I have been hired to write and rewrite many other scripts that haven't been made. I also used to work for a theater producer (who produced a few hits and a few notorious flops)...and I used to get sent out to backer's auditions to look for material for him. I am very commercial-minded. I am also having the time of my life with the work that I've already put into this. As I said, the source material is a pretty obscure film that was kind of a bomb....but I have some ideas that make it work really well for theater.

I do know that pretty much everyone on this board knows more about the theater world than I do...so I appreciate all your great responses.
