| The Times is reporting that three male principal ballet dancers with the New York City Ballet have been suspended due to "inappropriate communications." One of the suspended dancers is Amar Ramasar, currently appearing on Broadway as Jigger in the Carousel revival. The article itself provides little detail about what caused the suspensions, but reports that an internal investigation at NYCB “determined that each man had violated the norms of conduct that New York City Ballet expects from its employees.” |

| I think alll the to do being made about this making NYCB short of dancers is nonsense. If anything, they have been top heavy on principals for some time. They may lack really dynamic male principals, but maybe that just means they've been promoting the wrong people. I adore Ramasar, have missed him at NYCB and was looking forward to seeing him soon (though not certain that would have been this fall since his "Carousel" gig ends Sept. 16 and NYCB fall season opens Sept. 18). The other two dancers -- Finlay and Catazaro - were in my opinion forgettable, never lived up to their alleged potential -- and their absence will create opportunities for other more promising men in the soloist and corps ranks. | |
