My grandmother, who was Italian-Croatian-Slovenian, made us new pillowcases every January 1st. this was meant to hold good fortune for us for the new year. Bennett's father was Italian-American--maybe he had the same tradition.

Nonna also insisted we all get new underwear on New Year's Day., also for good luck. I know a lot of trivia, but not much about theatrical underwear.

Laura, who also never ever puts shoes on a table because that's bad luck...
