| Can't help you about the Webb, but weigh in to agree about the album. It's something I've played consistently since she performed much of it in her evening concert with the same name on the Beaumont stage. It shows off a side of Lupone that we don't connect with in the theater. She doesn't have a performance style that would logically lend itself to these (mostly but not all) quieter pop/rockish/folkish songs and their arrangements; and yet, magic happened. She's in wonderful voice, and her take on the storytelling in each lyric is moving and illuminating. I love the elegance and simplicity, and I'm not one to listen to here theater recordings, other than "Evita." |
