I can’t find one and tickets are still on sale through next year. It is burning through cash reserves but Davenport keeps things open for a long time.

odd choice of day both (a) to wait until, and (b) announce it. The conventional wisdom is that you announce things on the friday night before Labor day if you don't want anyone to notice. Like no one already noticed. lol

also odd is that HOH is just crickets.

You may have seen by now, but in Ken Davenport's blog (posted above), he noted that Sept 16 is the final day of "Broadway Week" 2-4-1 ticket offers, so they presumably want to get people in the door during its final weeks rather than close immediately.

To lose more money? I don't understand this, unless all of the (many) producers are on board with it.

It's not just the losing of money that makes this ridiculous but the fact that the 2 for 1 prices are astronomically higher than the prices at which tickets are being sold.

The grosses are below $200,000 - actual net adjusted gross avail to the production is around $160,000. Below expenses. Below stop clause I am sure. This isnt going to turn around, I fear. With $13 million plus to recoup.
Not a good scenario. Time to close is coming upon them ...

Unless they have another show for Cort they can collect rent in both houses even if gettin is losing money.

They would not have to. No producer who ever wants another theatre would require them to formally invoke. Even Davenport is not that suicidal.

And they will have another tenant for both theatres. It's hard to imagine that if you and I got on the stage at the Cort for a two hander we wrote and directed ourselves it would do any worse than this show.

(I'm sure it would be better. Even if you read the phone book. )

I promised originality and that would not be original. This also got me thinking: maybe we should retire that expression and find some more digital one. Do they still even have phone books? I remember a few years ago the used to pile them up by the mailboxes in my building and then after a few days the building would recycle the unclaimed ones. I haven't seen them lately. Perhaps my super is just taking them to recycling straight away. I am old enough to remember when you needed a forklift to get all the new phone books into your apartment. And then we would all sit around a cozy fire and read them out loud. (Or not?)

It would be delivered on request. Bu I assume now you would have to pay for a phone book if they even bother to print them in small quantities.

I never had much respect for actors starting with “a”. Have some originality and start with “k” emphasizing the silent names.

and no, dramedy, that is not what I had in mind. That would be a revival. What we do will be original. And fully clothed.

I look forward to the balcony singing each night “put it back on, please god, put your clothes back on.”
