| I was surprised to see that LCT is mounting this play in the fall. People who have seen it, either regionally or in London or on NT Live... what did you think? I'm generally a Stoppard fan, but I thought ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ was excruciating, so I’m on the fence about this one. | |

| ACT did it here a year or so ago. Beforehand, I saw a talkback with Stoppard and Carey Perloff, who pretty much explained what to look for and what he was going after. In spite of that (and unsurprisingly, given the general dullness of Perloff's direction), it was one of the more tedious evenings I've spent in a theatre. (I didn't care for "Rock 'n' Roll," either, but it was -slightly- better than "The Hard Problem.") | |

| I am a giant Stoppard fan and I saw the original production in London. Hands down, it was my LEAST favourite of all Stoppard's plays. I came out of it truly saying "WTF?" | |

| I saw the NT Live screening of this play, and found it to be inert. This production has a different cast and director, but still... J |

| If you didn't like Rock 'n' Roll, I can't imagine you liking this one - since it is FAR worse. Then again Jack O'Brien tends to be at his best with Stoppard (his HAPGOOD and INVENTION OF LOVE were both much better than their London predecessors) so time will tell. Have never heard of the leading actress in this iteration of THP. | |

| I also saw the NT Live. I tend to forget the specifics of plays that I don't like, but I recall feeling that it was inert as well, and slight, and also fairly unconvincing in its setup. One of those scripts that most likely wouldn't get produced if an unknown writer wrote it. | |

| I saw the U.S. premiere production at the Wilma Theater in Philly. “Slight” is the perfect word to describe the play. It was well acted and nicely staged, but not a whole lot of there there. | |
