| I've known several actors who have made this their (good, if stressful) living; I know the understudy for a major role in a major revival of an Albee play. He had to go on for the star, after never have played the part with the full company. I cannot possibly imagine that task, intellectually or otherwise. It's a special skill, and temperament, and to say that not everyone can do it is an understatement. |
