I also saw the NT Live. I tend to forget the specifics of plays that I don't like, but I recall feeling that it was inert as well, and slight, and also fairly unconvincing in its setup. One of those scripts that most likely wouldn't get produced if an unknown writer wrote it.
I saw the U.S. premiere production at the Wilma Theater in Philly. “Slight” is the perfect word to describe the play. It was well acted and nicely staged, but not a whole lot of there there.
