| I checked the website before buying but didn't see any announcements about the leads being scheduled our. I have read good things about the understudy here. |

| I'm not sure that absences are routinely posted on the Carousel website. It was posted on telecharge that he'd be out September 1 & 2. Lindsay Mendez is also out for this evening's performance (Sept 2). Tonight is also, as mentioned in a thread below, the last performance by Renee Fleming. |

| It is his birthday... so maybe why? Celebrating with the family as a first-time father? | |

| Thanks all. I checked both the show website and Telecharge before buying a ticket. I was afraid I wouldn't like it because of the many complaints I had read about the lack of Carousel horses in the Carousel Waltz, but I loved the dancing in the Waltz and throughout the show. The orchestra sounded great. It sounded like an orchestra, instead of a tinny-sounding recording because of poor amplification that I've experienced at other shows. Derrick Davis was very good. I'm very impressed if that's only the second time he's gone on. I'm glad to have caught Jessie Mueller, Lindsay Mendez, Alex Gemignani, Margaret Colin, John Douglas Thompson, Amar Ramasar, Brittany Pollack, Corey John Snide, subbing as the Fairground Boy, and Renée Fleming, who sounded wonderful, but who I would have loved even more without the scooping and straight tone. It's was nice to see Craig Salstein, formerly of ABT, in the ensemble. |
