| Even though I've never been, the thought of all that history, that artwork, the crafts and relics of hundreds and thousands of years just gone in a flash really makes me angry and sad as a person and as an artist. It's as though our Metropolitan Museum, or something on the order of the Louvre, etc. has been forever lost. I don't know if this was arson or some terrible accident, but my condolences to the Brazilian people. This isn't directly theater-related, but as theater artists go to museums to study history and art, science, design, portraits, costumes, etc., I'd say it is still relevant. |
