In MCC's defense, they had to find a play in a hurry when they canceled Labute's play, but I find it hard to believe they couldn't do better than this. To my dismay, there were many women of a certain age in the audience who expressed their delight each time the "P" word was uttered. It was a pleasure seeing fine actors doing their best to create vivid characters. Their performances were better than the material deserved.
I had hoped MCC would leave the Lortel in a blaze of glory. Not happening. |
