MAC TO SCHOOL

SEPTEMBER 15 & 16, 2018

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) announces the fourth year of its MAC TO SCHOOL weekend event. The two-day cabaret event features classes, seminars and workshops and will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 15 & 16 from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm each day at STUDIOS 353, 353 West 48th Street, 2nd Floor, New York City

MAC TO SCHOOL is open to MAC and non-MAC members.
· Flat registration fee for MAC members: $50
· Registration fee for Non-MAC members: $150, or join MAC for only $50 (Basic level) for a full-year membership to take advantage of the deeply discounted MAC member price of only $50 for the entire weekend.

The $50 registration fee is good for admission to all events. Tuition is the same regardless of how many events you attend.
Classes, seminars and workshops will include cabaret performers, directors and booking managers from NYC, moderated by a member of the MAC Board of Directors.

Participants choose ONE session per time slot. If a participant changes his or her mind, they should contact MAC as soon as possible so that we can accommodate the change!

A panel discussion that will focus on getting your cabaret career started. What to do, how to do it, and where will it all go?

Cabaret 201: The Next Level
Been in the cabaret world for a while, and looking to take it to the next level? Hear from artists who started right at the beginning and stepped up their game.

Vocal Warmup Boot Camp with STEARNS MATTHEWS
We all know we're supposed to warm up before we sing, but many of us do it without a goal in mind. Just like anything else, there has to be a plan! In this mini-workshop, we'll learn how to construct a vocal warmup regimen, and how to warm up with a purpose!

Vocal Styling Workshop
with DAWN DEROW, NATALIE DOUGLAS, and DAVID SABELLA
Curious about different vocal styles? Join us for this workshop on how a variety of styles of singing translates to the cabaret stage.


Directing Workshop with LENNIE WATTS
Ever wanted to try your hand at directing in cabaret? In this workshop, participants will both coach and be coached, with guidance from "one-man cabaret army" and MAC president Lennie Watts.
**Participants will be asked to prepare a song.**

Master Class with KT SULLIVAN
KT Sullivan was named artistic director of The Mabel Mercer Foundation in 2012. She starred in the Broadway revival of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and headlined for almost two decades in The Oak Room of The Algonquin Hotel. Her show Rhyme, Women, and Song was presented on PBS' WNET 13, and her award-winning Sondheim show with Jeff Harnar was filmed for PBS. KT has been showcased at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Spoleto Festival, Chichester Festival, The Pheasantry in London, CLUB RaYé in Paris, and The Adelaide Festival in Australia. She guest starred on Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, recorded six albums on the DRG Label, was the star vocalist on two tours of China with The Manhattan Symphonie, and was twice named one of The Top 100 Irish Americans by Irish America Magazine.

Armed with a pocket square and the voice of an angel, multiple MAC Award winner Kristoffer Lowe is one of the best-dressed men on the New York cabaret scene. Bring your favorite onstage outfit and get a professional opinion on what's working and how you can look even better!

Performing as Part of an Ensemble
How great is it to see a show where there's more than one performer onstage and it just works? It's wonderful to have a good working dynamic with your team when you're the solo performer, but what about adding more personalities to the equation? We'll hear about the process, the joys, and the techniques involved in being part of a group show. Master Class with STACY SULLIVAN
Stacy Sullivan is an award-winning recording artist, film, television, and stage actress. Her critically acclaimed one-woman shows have played venues around the world, from Live at Zédel in London to The Café Carlyle in New York. Her recordings can be heard regularly on Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, and radio stations across the country. She has appeared in numerous film, commercial, and television projects, most memorably creating the role of Sissel Jorgensen on the award-winning series Christy starring Tyne Daly.
