| An earlier Trump supporter had done something similar a couple months ago at ''A Bronx Tale,'' but that was in the wake of Robert DeNiro, the show's co-director, blasting the President on the Tony telecast. What this latest stunt has to do with ''Frozen,'' who knows? Huffington Post reports this Trump supporter pouted outside after the show and threatened to sue if he didn't get his flag back. |

| And though no Trump supporter, she tried to make the case that if Brandon Dixon can speak to Mike Pence across footlights, and DeNiro can curse a president, this is just the same thing. The resulting discussion among acquaintances was heated, but my point was simpler: Carrying a sign touting this president's re-election in a family show on B'way is much closer to shouting "Fire!" than any first amendment protection. This was genuinely scary, in no small part due to the zealotry that the size of the sign suggests. It wasn't like a church fan with "Trump!" on it. That's a big effing flag. This has nothing whatsoever to do with free speech. |

| Again, it comes down to behaviors we used to rely on but just can't expect anymore - propriety, civility, common sense. I tend to think that most people still understand that at an event such as theatre, we as audience are the guests, those onstage "have the floor." We, as audience are encouraged to respond to what we are seeing with applause, laughter, etc, and to simply enjoy the performance (or sometimes not) - but we are not there to push an agenda or to claim we can do anything we want under the guise of free speech. People don't innocently bring in such huge flags without knowing they're going to be challenging the room with them. I suspect very few people wouldn't realize they re going to create controversy by doing so. The fact that they're so willing to break the basic common sense civility and decorum of an artistic event such as this, claiming "free speech" is just ridiculous, and I think that down inside they know that - but they just don't care. To reverse things - if this were, say, a school performance, and Mr. Flag Bearer's young daughter was onstage, and someone held up a huge sign (of any sort) up by her during the show (or bows) and she grabbed it away, in the spirit of "don't disrupt the performance, ever" - he would have been the most proud dad in the world. And he knows that. |

| I just Googled, and these types of banners are sold. Doubt it's worth the expense of a lawsuit. Also, this appears to be the same kind of Trump flag that was unfurled at ''A Bronx Tale.'' Could it be the same guy? |

| Timothy R. Hughes is pretty amazing in that moment. It doesn't really matter WHAT the banner said - it was inappropriate behavior. I love how quickly he snatched it and got rid of it. Good for him! | |

| That was my first thought when I heard what had happened. I haven't gone through any of the articles, but does one of them comment on why it happened at Frozen? It seems very random. |

| On Tuesday, Patti Murin (who plays Anna) tweeted support of Colin Kaepernick, and that seems to have provoked some backlash. | |

| So you think he bought his ticket Tuesday or Wednesday? I mean, I hope so, because I think he would've needed to pay through the nose for a front-row ticket on such short notice! :D | |

| Not necessarily. When I saw Frozen in April, I bought my ticket the day before and had Row C up against the wall (partial view) for $79.50. Awful seat, and I couldn't see much of the left side of the stage (from my point of view). For some reason, the first row was empty on the side sections, and at intermission I asked an usher if I could move down to the first row, which was fine with her. Anyway, I was right in front of Timothy Hughes at the curtain call, so it's very possible the guy with the flag didn't pay much for his seat. The first row sides are right against the stage. I was surprised they weren't the lottery seats and were empty. During "Fixer Upper," the character of Pabbie (Hughes' role) almost hit me in the face with his tail! | |

| As my father, a man of great sense of fairness (despite being a Republican, when it was something a bit different), always talked about how "sue happy" our country had become--that the first response to any perceived offense always seemed to be "I'll sue" (and, for the record, he died in 1983, so he said this long ago). If this idiot tries to sue, I hope to theatre and the producing organization countersues for trespassing and for safety violations, as the stage is always off-limits--I note that ushers scrupulously tell ill-mannered audience members to remove their feet from the stage--which may be a vestige of their overly casual behavior at movie theaters. Somehow the world has become everyone's living room. |

| It looks to me that the show was curtain call with standing ovation and this guy was in front row with banner. It amazes me that we aren’t even through midterms and they are campaigning for 2020 already. |
