WORLD PREMIERE-Pamela's First Musical-JUST saw it last night in Red Bank, NJ
Posted by: NJGUY 08:43 am EDT 09/09/18

Cy Coleman music, Wendy Wasserstein/Chris Durang book, David Zippel lyrics and Graciela Daniele direction and choreography come to the Two River Theater. This is a 95 minute love-letter to Broadway musicals and though it may not be top notch Coleman, it is certainly has well-done music and clever lyrics. Carolee Carmelo commands the stage as Aunt Louise, as does every one of the 15 member cast. Orchestra of 8 (wish it was more) makes for some lovely tunes and I had a smile on my face the ENTIRE time (as did my wife and as did most in the audience). Where it will go from here is anyone's guess, yet if you can make it to Red Bank NJ, you will discover a pleasant and rewarding diversion steeped with TALENT!

It's on TDF for a few performances this week.

Plus it is an easy commute from NYC!

I enjoyed the show. The cast is lovely and this is a sweeter side of Cy Coleman. The lyrics by David Zippel are fun, too. Christopher Durang polishes Wendy Wasserstein’s book and you can see his touch in the giddy musical within a musical. I think the musical could be even a little more zany but I’m so glad I made the trip out to NJ. Howard McGillin sat behind me on the train back to New York. I always like seeing him in shows. This musical has a very good part for Carolee Carmello.
