| I really like Richard Nelson and this play fits his style. He's given us a conversational version. Like the Apple Plays, it's like sitting in on a family. Some soliloquies are directed directly at audience members. Jay O. Sanders is magnificent as Vanya. Jon DeVries is very good. Not so much the Sonya nor the Elena. I didn't like Astrov. A fine production -- a little under two hours in a small theater. I had a good time. |
