it’s my understanding that the Potter plays will be a “sit down” production

So there won’t be anything else in the Curran for the foreseeable future (if true)

Hanson ends by jan 1, so that leaves 6 months for 2 shows. I assume it will take a month or two to prepare the auditorium for potter to match the lyric in nyc. There arent many tours that arent planning stops here at nederlander houses, so there just might not be anything to add to a subscription at curran.

Shorenstein vs Nederlander?

I don't know the backstory to the split between Shorenstein and Nederlander., but perhaps that has something to do with the lack of shows at the Curran. Nederlander is a much more powerful entity and might wield persuasive power over producers who would otherwise have booked the Curran. Just a theory with no facts to back it up.

Head over heels; soft power and Taylor Mac are new. Dear Evan Hanson was a surprise to not go to Nederlander but better fit at Curran. I was hoping bands visit would go to Curran but I think the tour conflicts with potter production. It would have been cool if mac’s Gary play had prebroadway tryout here since he has a relationship with Shorenstein. But plays rarely have commercial preB productions—usually regional houses do that.

Of course, Fun Home, which opened the CSH's remodeled Curran, was a tour.

A couple of considerations may also be
- Both previous houses in London and NY underwent extensive remodels and modification to become "Hogwartized." I'd imagine that there would be time needed for modifications to the theater in advance (and then double that for SF delays, but given experiences in London and NY they're likely used to difficult cities) I'd expect that the gilded balconies would be covered in soffits in the process of turning the auditorium into the great dining hall look. I also suspect Carole's precious (very) chandelier will need to go into storage.
- I recall hearing that there was to be a joint agreement between Curran and ATG for the production, and I believe ATG was to be responsible for most operations. Given this, it's likely that they had no desire to burden their sales with a Curran half-season subscription.

Here's an article in the New York Times.

Sounds like the Hatfields vs the McCoys all over again.
