King Hedley II today

Two River Theatre Company in Red Bank has created a really intimate production of King HedleyII; a wonderful experience, you feel like you are in their front yard as the events occur in the Black Box; all August WIlson fans run to Red Bank; not his best play but an exquisite production!

Yes, even second tier August Wilson is magnificent and satisfying theater. Two River Theater knows how to execute top-notch August Wilson productions. This is their fifth of the ten century plays. All five of them have been wonderful!

Seeing this next week. I've attended all of TRT's Wilson productions, and none have let me down. Performances, direction and design always top-notch. I actually disagree with the description of HEDLEY as second-tier Wilson. I think it's one of his unsung masterpieces and as good or better than some of his more heralded works. To each their own, I guess.

I thought that there were some unresolved elements in the plot. That said, it captured me from the first line.
