Has anyone watched the UK production of Lauren Gunderson's 'I and You' that was posted on Instagram on Friday? For those who are interested, it will be available there for just a few more days (follow @hampstead_theatre for access).

Since I missed the play at 59E59, and since it's one of the most produced plays in the country, I was very interested to see it. I'm curious to hear from anyone familiar with the work to know how the Hampstead production stacks up.

I, for one, felt it must have lost something without a live audience, and also (and perhaps related), the acting felt quite stiff. Maisie Williams (take note, GoT fans) was reasonably OK I thought, but Zach Wyatt (who I've not heard of) was really not all that engaging to me.

I found the whole thing to be quite tedious to watch, and while the twist at the end was marginally intriguing, it wasn't that much of a payoff for spending 90 minutes with these characters.

I saw it at the Hampstead, so live in the theatre and not on Instagram, and thought Wyatt acted Williams off the stage -- but the whole construct of the play is so ludicrous and phony that it scarcely matters and the trick ending is a total con. The set for this, though, was amazing and not dissimilar to the Hampstead's design a few years ago of a new Mike Bartlett play called WILD.
