| Judy Kaye's version is certainly the best recorded version. Not only is she a terrific singer but she understands the sublime comedy of the number I've heard Routledge's live performance and it's thrilling to hear the audience suddenly come alive and realize they are listening to an honest to god show stopper in the midst of a rather lumpy evening. I've heard other scatted performances of some other songs. Sarah Brightman, of all people, has a lovely version of Lud's Wedding on her excellent "Songs That Got Away" album. |
