Anxious to hear about the score! How many teens in high school musicals do we need right now?

Excruciating to sit through. Lyrics were terrible. Some terrific singers. Lots of money put into this mess.

I was at the talk back and someone asked why only one one hit wonders were use... guess why? So many popular artists works are tie up for future songbook musicals. What "Jersey Boys" has started!

PS: The cast was great but the stage show just tried to be the movie... like too many scenes in cars!!!!!!! It needed more dancing.

The “score” of repurposed 90’s songs was hit and miss. Some created hearty chuckles (if you knew the lyrics to the upcoming chorus) but most just kinda laid there. A lot of the lyric replacements were TERRIBLE.
The age of the performers read all over the place - from Dove Cameron, who read as a high schooler, to Justin Mortilleti (playing Christian) who most certainly did not.
What was interesting to me was the presence of Dove Cameron brought an audience of young (7-12 year old) girls to this show. This is not material ideally suited to 10 year olds IMO

I had a ticket for tonight, but Dove Cameron is out. I was very disappointed that even as a New Group subscriber, I was unable to exchange my ticket for a later performance when the star returns. It doesn't inspire me to renew, that's for sure! There were a lot of very sad kids in the house as they read the program insert (and I was surprised to see so many kids there on a school night!).

I'm sure the understudy is fantastic, but I decided to past-date my ticket.

A friend saw it with Dove Cameron’s understudy and said her voice was amazing. He thought she might have been ideally cast instead of Dove Cameron.
