It does make one wonder what else the "paper of record" gets wrong.
I learned young not to trust the accuracy of newspapers. When I was in my early teens, my father was the head of an ad hoc committee to keep Army Pictorial Center open (it's now the Museum of the Moving Image). There was a press conference, and it was reported by the Times, Daily News, and Post. The only fact that all three got correct was my dad's age.
I sometimes find the attitudes about theatre in the press to be even more galling than the inaccuracies. Even in 2018, some writers evince astonishment that not all musicals are cheesy fluff. |
