Coincidentally, Gifford announced her departure from TODAY today...she's leaving the show in April.
Even though her Aimee Semple McPherson musical flopped, I've been hoping that Gifford might continue to write for the stage...the only way she was ever going to get better at it is through practice, right? Even the most famous songwriters have had their flops and most didn't see success right out of the gate.
I'm also kind of surprised that Broadway hasn't seen more of Gifford as an actress, since the schedule would certainly dovetail with doing an hour of the TODAY show each morning. Perhaps she didn't have a good experience in PUTTING IT TOGETHER and hasn't had any desire to do it again. I'd have thought she'd, at least, have taken a turn through CHICAGO by now.
