The ending is completely overcooked. I sort of bought Jud handing Curly the gun as if to say "You've won. I've lost. I'm lost." But for Curly to shoot Jud at point blank range ... in front of Laurie? Why not have Curly shoot him in the back? Make it actually morally dubious. Curly is our romantic lead, but people are complex and "good people" can do disgusting things.
And the Finale Ultimo being angry screamed by the entire cast? Give me a fucking break.
STILL - I highly recommend seeing this "Oklahoma." Good for the R&H estate to allow Fish and his team the freedom to experiment and flesh out a new look at this groundbreaking musical.
