|This is a fun article, although not sure about the blanket categorization of “popular”. The author writes that “despite Tony wins and/or long runs” these titles have yet to be revived, but many shows listed do not fit that criteria. It really should be popular shows on the one hand, and flops that were/are respected or have developed a following since the original productions.
In the former category I would place: Funny Girl, City of Angels, Grand Hotel, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Titanic, The Secret Garden, Fiorello, Will Rogers Follies
In the latter category I would put: Parade, Rags, Mack and Mabel, Merrily, The Rink
And in some middle category (or because I don’t personally know enough about the show to classify it) I would put: Unsinkable Molly Brown, Applause, Lil Abner, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
Although I like many of the titles, I am personally not that sad or surprised that anything written in the 90’s hasn’t been revived yet. I like a nice long chunk of time between productions.
