I read the script, but have not seen a production.
But it really seemed so inept. You can see the big "reveal" coming within the first few pages. And you could imagine a more meaningful, provocative play being written on the same premise.
But the whole thing is so fake. It give the appearance of being challenging without really probing deep. It give the appearance of being daring without following the logic of its premise because that would be going too far. The audience gets to pretend they have had a core-shaking experience without having to move a millimeter out of their comfort zone.
It should be a big hit. |
