Firstly, I agree with you about Strich. I thought Lansbury was perfect in the role. In addition, Strich often had problems with her lines.
Now I might get slammed for this and while I loved Bernadette, I thought that CZJ gave a wonderful performance as well, and let’s not forget that she won the Tony for it. I think some here give CZJ short shrift because she’s a “movie star” (perish the thought). And sadly, many only remember her unfortunate performance at the Tonys. So in my opinion, Bernadette did not outshine CZJ as I thought both were outstanding. |
