| I'm guessing you mean lyrics, not lines. If so, you're the only I know who saw it multiple times, with the exception of Ted Chapin (and I'm not sure he really did mean to say that he personally experienced this happening many times), who I've heard or read say that. One person here years ago said of the several times he saw it, she went up slightly once. She did not go up the two times I saw the production. I know a bunch of people who saw it multiple times, and they don't remember her going up. Meanwhile, Paige seems to have often gotten her lyrics wrong. In fact, I thought you complained about it here. At least a couple of people did. But if you do mean lines . . . really? I mean, I know it's legend that she and Gene Nelson had huge problems, but as far as I can tell, it's more myth than fact. I know about the Frost show, but she was perfect later on Merv Griffin. And I think it's the way she was asked very suddenly in the middle of conversation on Frost to do the song that caused her to screw up. I do think she needed to be ready and focused, and she clearly wasn't that time. Anyway, if you say you saw and heard this happen, I guess you did, but I had to say that's at variance with my own experience and the experience of most everyone I know who saw it multiple times. |
