| Debbie Reynolds in "Woman of the Year" - they added so much dancing for Reynolds; they were throwing her around unbelievably. I think she blacked out during a performance, and it closed soon after - very energetic performance Jane Powell was equally good as Debbie Reynolds in "Irene" and added back "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" which is on the recording but had been cut in the show Reba in "Annie Get Your Gun" Elaine Paige in "Sunset Blvd" had both the vocals and the acting chops Dixie Carter in "Master Class" - more impressive than Zoe Caldwell, I thought Michael Crawford in "Barnum" - fabulous physical performance - saw him in London, and he did even more circus stunts than Jim Dale Jonathan Pryce - "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" Keith Michell - "La Cage Aux Folles" - as Georges - better voice and more elegant than Gene Barry Bernadette Peters - "A Little Night Music" Marin Mazzie - so pleased to have seen her Anna in "King and I" - she was much more committed and playing it for very high stakes, and she still had the chops Sergio Franchi - "Nine" - sang it better, though I think Raul Julia acted it better Most of the guys who played Marius after the original Broadway one in "Les Miz" (during the original run!) - don't know how he got the part Angela Lansbury as Anna in "King and I", who did it while Yul Brynner and Constance Towers were on vacation -- didn't care for Towers as Anna |
