It also depends on what you mean by pre-recorded. Both shows use click tracks with programmed drums, triggered if not full tracks for instrumental parts, and some fully recorded back up vocals. Pre-record has been a fact of life in the New York theatre since at least Phantom and every show with programmed lights and scenery uses click tracks to some degree these days.
