I'd add that "Leadville Johnny Brown" and "Dolce Far Niente" are also not what we expect from the "Music Man" Willson, and yet there they are, right in the middle of The Unsinkable Molly Brown, being terrific songs, though hardly anyone ever seems to notice them. ("Are You Sure?" is another terrific song from that score, though it's more in line with what we do expect from Willson after The Music Man.) I think Willson did more musical innovating than he's generally given credit for.
