| ... if it's a gift certificate, they already have the money, no? The only thing you do by refusing to use it is increase their profit margin by following the very course of action they hope you'll take! | |

| Right. So I should pay exorbitant fees which decrease the value of any gift certificate. This year, i'm just resorting to reporting them to the dept. of consumer affairs. and posting on their twitter page. maybe prospective buyers will gt the message. | |

Just be aware that, from their perspective, you are absolutely increasing the value of that gift certificate... and a snippy tweet is unlikely to deter them. Last year the US had something like $45 billion in unused gift cards, which is why merchants absolutely LOVE them. |
