My understanding was that the program was essentially as you described until Ms. Varis died, and then there was some question about whether the program would continue at all. But it has, only in an apparently modified form, i.e., more dependent on sales than it once was.
To be fair, I can hardly blame them. The Met almost never sells out these days! If a show is really selling out like this, they need to take what revenue they can. There is still the family circle, and standing room, for lower priced options. |
