Maybe BYE BYE BIRDIE is the best parallel because it’s so joyous, so musical, and the dancing energizes the entire theatre. Seeing this show is like being witness to a force as elemental and inspiring as sunshine.
The four leads and the young lady who so enchantingly plays the lesbian teen that anchors the show are charismatic in the extreme. And, standing on the shoulders of HAIRSPRAY, it’s far and away the most unabashedly, inclusively gay-positive show in Broadway history. And nearly everyone, including each ensemble dancer, has a moment to shine.
You’ll leave the theatre in bliss. |
