| Caught the last performance of 1776 yesterday at the New Rep in Watertown. As the reviewer on ATC said, it was color- and gender-blind casting. First, kudos to the actor who stepped in to play Thomas Jefferson; I believe he just covered the role yesterday. The sound design was excellent and I was able to catch all of the dialogue, especially during the 45 minutes of just book. As my hearing goes off a bit when my allergies are bad, I appreciate being able to catch everything being said. Still thinking about the casting choices, but I guess that can be a good thing. Martha Jefferson being played by a man - what would Betty Buckley say! |

| Curious how the song would sound sung by a man. | |
