| Wow - had to re-read your post several times to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. This is the very last show-or cast- that I'd call smug or self-congratulatory. Maybe you're confusing a very hard-working group of people that genuinely seem to like each other and love what they're doing with those words. Their enthusiasm is infectious and radiates right off the stage, I wish more shows were like that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I honestly can't imagine how anyone, especially a gay person could come away with those impressions. At the very least, this show promotes an important message about inclusion that you should be cheering about. |

| Sure, it's not the message of the show, but you can't deny that "let's go tell those flyover people how backwards they are" is pretty integral to the plot. I wouldn't be surprised if that means the message is lost on a fair chunk of the audience. And the really important bit is buried all the way at the end: If you don’t let her be who she is, you’re going to lose her. You’re going to lose your daughter. Trust me. I know what I’m talking about. |

| I wouldn't describe it that way either. I was hesitant about seeing it, based on the descriptions. It seemed like something that could go wrong, be very squirm-inducing - and the title doesn't tell much. But I loved it. | |
