| Some narrative strands are concluded by the end of Part One, but for the most part they overarch both parts. Vanessa Redgrave only appears towards the end of Part Two, should that be a consideration. The end of Part One does feature a theatrical moment that, admittedly, many people find to be incredibly moving (FWIW, I strained my eyes by rolling them back so far) - so it might be worth seeing Part One just for that. | Ditto. In fact, the second half is somewhat a let down after the first. The play has few scenes--by which I mean, where characters in a given time act on each other through talking or other things--and instead has a lot of narration and some longish remembering "arias." That said, the next day after seeing both parts in the same day, I felt the 7 hours was an experience more like reading a novel than seeing a play. I had moved through time with the main character and found myself thinking of his life often. BTW, the comparisons with "Angels" need to be further described. Yes, "The Inheritance" is a 7 hour play about a group of friends, mostly responding to the effects of AIDs. The group is later in calendar time from "Angels." Lopez, however, is neither as clever nor dramatic as Kushner. Don't go if you're expecting the roller-coaster ride one's first viewing of "Angels" was. |

| I was at the final performance when it played at the Young Vic, so I can't speak to the transfer. But, in that venue, I found it to be the most enjoyable 6.5 hours I have spent in the theater in years. Yes, the second act could use some pruning--especially in the role that Redgrave plays--when it isn't played by her in NYC. While I agree that one can definitely skip part two of "Angels", I would not want to miss part two of this show. | |

| An afterthought. It would be a mistake to see Part 2 without having seen Part 1. But you would have a fairly complete experience just seeing Part I. AND, if you know the novel "Howard's End" well, you can guess at least some of the major plot points of part 2. | |
