Super interesting casting notice for an equity production of "little women" at Cherry Lane in New York. Specifically, the breakdown for Jo says "open but not limited to, non-binary, gender queer, trans and cis-gendered performers."
Totally fascinating idea! Obviously depending on the physiology of the person cast we might not get a Sutton Foster high belter for 'Astonishing' (among other things!) but clearly the team knows that. I wonder if they will actively try to cast this non-traditionally - is that the vision from the outset, or are they just expressing an openness to anything? Love this show and this score, and regardless of the casting it sounds like this will be a cool production. Can't wait to see it. |
