Those images at the end (I assume they're the same as in London, I haven't seen it on Broadway) are there, I think, because the production's central aim is to show the danger of blurring the lines between news and entertainment, and that final clip shows *a reality TV star* whose TV stardom has helped propel him into an office he isn't qualified to hold. It's not just about getting a knee-jerk reaction from the audience. |

It's not a comment on how "we all" embody the Peter Principle, it's presented as the logical conclusion of the process we've been watching all evening: when you blur the lines between news and entertainment so that EVERYTHING is a battle for ratings, Trump in the White House is where you end up. | |
