There are people who still cling on to this ridiculous maxim that theatre should show not tell? For a short moment in history that may have made sense as a denial of what came before but there is zero sense in it. The beginning of theatre was to tell, not show and it has been at the heart of it ever since,
Also, good luck in trying to get an Irishman or woman to stop telling stories. If you don’t see it as integral to Irish culture then you can’t have known many Irish people! |
