The Wiz was the first big Bway show I ever saw (on tour at DC's Kennedy Center in 1976). I was so overcome by its power that it changed my life. I loved theatre from that moment on.
Sadly, I have yet to see any production that has duplicated the original's joyous nature. The book is shaky (and the newest edition do much to help it), but the songs are classic.
