Jack DiFalco as Shane Corcoran. I guess I am surprised. I am totally ready to be shown that it was all in the direction and/or writing that made DiFalco so unwatchable in Torch Song. Shane is very dark and a really juicy part. Overall, one of the most exciting replacement casts I've seen in a long time. Can't want to go back!

Jack DiFalco was excellent in MARVIN'S ROOM and also in YEN, with Lucas Hedges. I have no explanation for what happened with TORCH SONG.

What happened was that he was miscast in a part that called for someone half DiFalco's age, or, at least, half the age he appeared to be in TORCH SONG.

Can't really fault the actor. He didn't hire himself. He auditioned and was offered a terrific role in a high profile production. I'd have taken it too and I too couldn't pass for 15, even with Blanche DuBois' lanterns.

I agree as far as that goes, but I would also say that miscasting was by no means the full extent of the problem. There was also the interpretation -- and the actual acting, which I think it would be better not to get into again :-) But to repeat, DiFalco was excellent in those two other shows. And, by the way, I really didn't think he came across as too old for his role in MARVIN'S ROOM, and that character is also supposed to be a teenager. (I don't remember how old his character in YEN was supposed to be.)
