I also think that Peter's interpretation of that "With One Look" lyric is backwards. No, it's not a great lyric lol - but I think the intention is that that metaphorical "one look" is powerful enough to convey all the magic in any film. It's a boast, not a condemnation. It's also not meant literally, as in "I only have one look I use all the time." It's grand hyperbole, very much in the spirit of a larger-than-life presence like Norman Desmond. It may not be an elegant lyric, in a show not known for many of those lol - but I do get the point of it in context.
