Well, the official name is now the Hayes, according to the League, which is what makes something official. :-) (The moral of this story may be not to believe everything you hear from a press agent, though in this case it may have been true at the time.)

I heard (not from a press agent but to be taken with a grain of salt anyway) that part of the reason for the name change was that they felt someone would be more likely to retain the shortened name rather than dropping it altogether. So it might be The Nathan's Famous Hayes Theatre.

My biggest concern with the current name is that someone might think the theatre was named for Sean Hayes. Or Every Hayes. (The latter being an individual real person with Broadway credits.)
