I don't particularly like Neil LaBute's writing, but not because of how he writes and what he chooses to write about. Mainly because he doesn't go as far as I think he could. He kind of skims the surface of being offensive.

Still, a playwright's work has got to sell tickets. And if the commercial theater only allows a certain degree of offensiveness and a limited number of writers who are allowed to be offensive, then I'm certainly glad we have Neil LaBute.
