is there any evidence he holds back on offense for commercial reasons?

Interviews with LaBute show he revels in pushing buttons and does so with glee absolutely on purpose. In the case of the plays today they were written to be included in with other works by different authors at a festival where they are presented as a new work by him included in each performance rather than advertising the contents of each play I believe. I can’t imagine anything more “offensive” to most people than the ideas presented in “The Fourth Reich” personally although I prefer to think of it as being provocative rather than offensive, you are very aware that your emotions are being played by the author for effect.
